Inherent tributes we pay to time

Inherent tributes we pay to time
Bidding him halt till we howl
In sleep we wail like Lunatics
Expressing wishes black as night
We nurse desires of our paling youth,
Though not much now, yet we hold on strong to it
This to us could be a game
Played on time so much with teasing ease
Answers we get from our withering bone
Reminding us of our Fading light. Meanwhile,
Time like wind blows out our strengths
Stuck in the dark we grope along
Praying hard that dawn might come.
We had it all and lost it all
Each man is given enough of Some Time
To strive, sear, and save not waste
Tributes only we pay to time, hardly enough
Thinking it ours to keep till death,
Watch a Mad-am count her wrinkles
Watch oh! Youth a wrinkled wom-an
Weeping over her aging body
Weeping over her paling skin
For then you will know that time is dear!
